Whenever we go to any of the local restaurants, if they have French onion soup, I order it. I just can’t get enough of the stuff. I love onions what can I say. And all that gooey cheese…yum! I never thought that I could make it at home though, until I came across this recipe on Group Recipes. It seemed fairly simple to make and the ingredients weren’t overly extravagant so I decided try it out.
Boy am I glad that I did. This recipe tasted just like what we get at the diner down the street. It was so good, I had to have two bowls.
Even my kids tried it out and they would never get something like this in a restaurant! Now that I know that I can make it at home, I never order it… “mine” is way better! When I do it at home I always get to put in extra bread and cheese, just the way that I like it.
I have even taken this to family game night at my parent’s house. I just make the soup ahead of time and then do the broiling when we get there. It’s a favorite for everyone that’s ever tried it.
