Grandma always knew how to make everyone happy in the family, most especially us, her grandchildren. As kids, we just loved to play and eat. Those were the activities that made up most of our childhood. We didn’t have to worry about bills or work or friends or enemies—we were just enjoying every day and living life to the fullest without any problems in our young minds.
Grandma loved to bake us cookies. And she always made sure we have equal amounts of cookies for each of us. The only condition she ever had was that we should drink milk while we ate the cookies.
She didn’t have to tell us twice though because her cookies tasted really good with milk. Our favorite cookies of hers were her old-fashioned peanut butter cookies. We loved peanut butter, which was why every time she told us she would make them for us, we all behaved.
No one would want to miss eating her peanut butter cookies just by misbehaving. Grandma’s cookies were crunchy on the outside, but creamy and chewy on the inside, just the way we all loved our cookies. A recipe for these peanut butter cookies can be found on the next page. I hope you will enjoy this recipe!
These peanut butter cookies are perfect for an afternoon tea with your friends or with your family. Watch as everyone devours these sweet treats. The kids will love these the most, I assure you. My nephews and my niece couldn’t get enough of them! That’s why it’s always a good idea to make a double batch of these. Don’t worry, they won’t be around long enough to go bad!
Our friend over at Taste of Home has this to say about this recipe:
“My mother insisted that my grandmother write down one recipe for her when she got married in 1942. That was a real effort because Grandma was a traditional pioneer-type cook who used “a little of this or that ’til it feels right.” This treasured recipe is the only one she ever wrote down!”
Oh! She reminds me of my grandmother. My grandmother used to do this too, which is why most of her recipes weren’t passed on to the next generation and my aunts and my mom had to recreate them by taste. I am glad that she was able to write down this for you though. And thank you for sharing this with us!
